Apex MA Range

PERFORMANCE FREERIDE HYDROFOIL

The Apex V1 MA (medium aspect) performance range is designed primarily for Wing Foiling with endless potential for freeride cruising, jumping, pumping, carving the flats, riding waves or ripping as fast as you possibly can! These wings are also amazing for freeride/freerace Kite Foiling and excel in other foil disciplines such as surf, tow and wake.

Light Weight,
Ultra Strong.

With easily accessible lift, pump and glide performance combined with precision and maneuverability the new Apex V1 MA hydrofoil range is ready to take your riding to the next level.

Performance designs, light weight, ultra strong full carbon construction finished with a high quality performance surface coating.

Fully Modular

The entire Apex V1 hydrofoil series is fully modular – interchange front wings, rear wings, fuselages, masts and rear wing shims to customize your setup.

New mast and fuselage sizes compliment the all-new MA range of front and rear wings.

Lift and stability Vs. Speed and Manoeuvrability

The Apex V1 MA front wings offer an incredibly wide speed range.

In general, the larger the front wing the more lift you will have and the more stable the ride will be.
A larger front wing offers increased low wind/slow foiling speed performance, however your top speed and manoeuvrability will be slightly reduced when compared to a smaller front wing.

Full Carbon Construction

Lightweight and Ultra Strong

All parts are constructed with an optimum combination of high-density PVC or EPS foam cores and 100% carbon laminates for an incredible strength to weight ratio. All laminations are comprised of a Quadraxial Carbon fiber matrix with high modulus epoxy resin creating superior rigidity in flex and torsion.

Performance Surface Coat

All carbon parts are finished with an ultra high quality coating used in performance marine environments such as Americas Cup racing yachts. This unique coating provides UV protection to the carbon laminate and an optimum surface finish.

Titanium Hardware

All screws and barrel nuts are CNC machined from GR5 Titanium with a Torx head fitting, guaranteeing zero corrosion and ultimate strength. Each complete Apex V1 foil is supplied with a Torx Key.

Choosing the Right Wing

Choosing the correct size front wing(s) for your skill level, weight, other equipment and conditions is very important.

Rear Wing Shims

Rear Wing Shims are for experienced riders looking to adapt the speed, stability and maneuverability to their personal preference. These fit between the Rear Wing and Fuselage to adjust the AOA (angle of attack) of the Rear Wing. The Apex V1 complete foil kit includes -0.5deg, -1deg and -1.5deg shims.

All Apex V1 Rear Wings are factory set at the most stable configuration without a shim to provide incredible pitch and roll stability at slow to medium speeds, combined with enough front foot pressure to assist in learning maneuvers.

AOA – Angle of Attack

In general the performance effects of using negative degree shims to reduce the AOA are:

 • Increased top end speed and glide performance

• Front foot pressure decreased, back foot pressure increased

• Decreased pitch stability

The higher the degree value, the greater the effects will be. We recommend starting with the -0.5deg shim, then decreasing the AOA progressively with the -1deg and then -1.5deg to feel the effects and find your preferred setting.

Entry level to intermediate riders – if you feel too much front foot pressure, before fitting a shim to adjust the rear wing AOA, we recommend first adjusting the position of your foil on the board by moving the mast backwards. This will reduce front foot pressure without deceasing stability of the foil.

Fuselages

maximum stiffness and strength

SET UP:

Important notes:

  • Before assembling check all connecting surfaces, screws and barrel nuts are clean and free of sand, salt or other debris.
Only use original Ozone screws and barrel nuts. Damage and/or loss may occur if using another type of screw.
  • Do not tighten screws until all screws are in position and correctly threaded.
  • Do not over tighten the screws, firmly hand tighten (approx. 8N.m torque wrench setting) and release screws by hand only. Do not use power tools.
  • The Fuselage barrel nuts are glued in place. These have a T25 head so the supplied T30 tool cannot be used to mistakenly tighten or loosen. Do not tighten or loosen the Fuselage barrel nuts, only tighten or loosen the screw. If a Fuselage barrel nut becomes loose, use standard super glue to fix it back into place.
  • The Mast barrel nuts are glued in place. These have a T30 head so the supplied T30 tool can be used to rotate the nuts to align with the screws if necessary. If a Mast barrel nut becomes loose, use standard super glue to fix it back into place.
  • The Fuselage to Mast connection is designed to be a tight fit. Align the screws, get them started and proceed to tighten. Approximately the last 2mm of Mast tuttle section will be pulled into the Fuselage by tightening the screws. The connection will then become flush.
  • If stored set up, before each use check the screws and parts are fitting tight, retighten screws if necessary.

PACKING:

To disassemble the foil simply reverse steps shown in SET UP.

Alternatively the foil can be kept set up, ready to go again for your next session. Refer to the Care & Maintenance section.

The Mast tuttle to Fuselage connection is designed to be a tight fit. After removing the screws it may be necessary to use light force to work the Fuselage off the Mast tuttle. A rubber mallet can be used if necessary to tap the Fuselage.

CARE AND

MAINTENANCE:

This is a technical product used in harsh marine environments. Use common sense and care for your equipment.

• Always use the foil covers for protection.

• Never leave in direct sunlight or in a hot area such as inside a car.

• Always rinse with fresh water after use. Wipe dry with a clean cloth to avoid watermarks.

• Wash and dry before long-term storage.

• If stored set up, before each use check the screws and parts are fitting tight, retighten screws if necessary.

• Always tighten screws slowly, ensuring they are threaded correctly.

REPAIRS:

Any repair work is done at your own risk. We strongly advise using a professional.

• Light surface scratches can be buffed out using 400 or 800 grit sandpaper.

• Chips or dings can be repaired using fiberglass or carbon fiber with epoxy resin. It is also possible to use pre-mixed products such as Solarez.

• If a Barrel Nut becomes loose, use standard super glue to fix it back into place.

• Spare parts and replacements can be ordered from your shop/dealer.

• Only use original Ozone screws and barrel nuts. Damage and/or loss may occur if using another type of screw.
