Ozone titles secured ahead of final showdown in Brazil

Although their top two positions are secure, Fusion riders Mathis and Kamil are still looking forward to a final showdown in Brazil

The season finale of the AWSI Wingfoil Racing World Cup Series runs in Jericoacoara, Brazil, from 2–6 December, and all eyes are on the Ozone team as the action kicks off

Whatever happens in Brazil, Ozone riders Mathis Ghio and Kamil Manowiecki are assured of their 1st and 2nd places respectively in the overall rankings. Mathis has dominated the season, already securing the Formula Wingfoil World Championship and European titles and has all but wrapped up the 2026 Open Series standings, which will be his fifth world title.

Kamil has also delivered an impressive year, highlighted by his standout World Cup win in China and consistently strong performances across the tour, and will be Vice World Champion for the second year in a row.

Jericoacoara is a spectacular place to wrap up the season—known for its strong, steady winds and flat water—but it also brings unique challenges.

“The last World Cup in Jericoacoara is such a great place to go to, with the best vibes always,” explains Mathis. “We are really used to this location now as we have been coming here for four years for the final stop of the year. I feel extremely glad to have the opportunity to race here, and I’m really excited for the racing that we will see.

“This event means a lot to me because it’s the final stop of an amazing year, and I’m looking forward to finishing on a great note. Even if the world ranking is already fixed for myself and Kamil—we are both secure to have 1st and 2nd place—and with the discard system nothing will change in that aspect. So it feels great to not have any pressure here. We only have to focus on a good result in this competition with no pressure.

“The biggest challenge we will face in Jericoacoara will definitely be the seaweed. The wind and water are always amazing here. We are getting between 25–30 knots every day, so that is perfect. The flat water and offshore wind make it great for racing. The only small thing is the seaweed in the water, and we have to jump to release the seaweed that gets stuck on the foils. So it makes the situation a bit different, and you have to have a good strategy to beat the seaweed issue. We have to be focused and balanced for sure.”

“The final stop of the year is in my favourite place on tour, Brazil,” says Kamil. “Like last season, I’m here for a full month already, three weeks before the event, because the conditions are the hardest we face all year. It might look easy from the outside: sunny, windy, same direction every day, but the seaweed changes everything. If you don’t jump to clear it off your foil, you simply can’t fly. Jumping at full speed is risky, so it takes time to adapt. After two weeks of training here, I feel really confident again. It’s another skill that, if you master, gives you a great advantage.

“It’s been a strong season overall. I was pushing for the win at every event of the year—six stops all around the world. Starting with Morocco, where the huge lead in the long-distance races gave me great confidence. Winning the first grand final race, being even on bullets with Mathis, meant whoever takes the next win wins the World Cup.

“In Turkey, I was just one point away from going into the grand race as the leader. After the win in World Cup China, I was leading the world ranking all the way until Cagliari, where finishing fifth cost me the lead.

“But I look at it positively: last year I won here, and now my focus is simply to win it again. The forecast is looking strong—exactly what makes my Fusion V2 Ultra-X wings smile. They love it when the wind starts lifting the water.

“The ranking is one thing; the performance here and the momentum for next year is another. With the new season starting already in February and most major events happening until the end of May, this stop in Brazil is the perfect preparation for what’s coming!”
