Again, congratulations to Nico Parlier for winning the 2019 Hempel World Cup Series Final in Marseille, France. He is on yet another winning streak having recently secured the 2019 Formula Kite World Championship title in Lake Garda, Italy last month.

Nico was amongst the 24-strong Open Kiteboarding fleet that featured a selection of the top riders from across the globe, Ozone French team member Axel Mazella also put on a solid performance, although a tactical mistake in the final cost him his goal of silver, he still came in strong securing a podium spot and the bronze medal. Youth Olympic Silver medalist Toni Vodisek also fought hard coming in a respectable 4th, his training and race experience showing through.

In the women's racing, Ozone USA's Kirsty O'Brien kept Daniela on her toes with some really smooth racing, clearly the intense training in the Dominican Republic prior to the event paid off as she happily claimed second spot.

Earlier this year Marseille was named the sailing venue for the 2024 Olympic Games for which Paris scored the winning bid, it will be host to 325 sailors from 40 different nations competing in ten Olympic disciplines, of which Kiteboarding will have its debut. The five days of racing saw a mix of conditions at the future Olympic spot, overall the wind played ball meaning the racing and organisation were a success and it has become one of the favourite events amongst the kiters.

Over a third of the competitors were on our R1 V3 race winning machine. The V3 has high-speed podium performance that is easy to tap into, the kite's design makes racing at a high level accessible.

Hard-core racers benefit from an overall increase in performance with the following enhancements:

  • Better angles up and downwind
  • Higher top end and lower bottom end range
  • Responsive handling
  • Increased stability in light wind conditions
  • Quicker inflation
