Our team is just back from the IFKO World Snowkite Contest in Roccarasso deep in the Abruzzo Mountains in the center of Italy. Still a rather unknown area but never the less an amazing playground. It has loads to offer the team who arrived two days prior to the event to get some freeriding and testing in before the actual competition started off on the 2nd of March. Check out their quick edits:
The first two days of the competition were very tight and winds were very strong. Didier won the one and only race on thursday in the snowboard category. Dom Zimmermann ended up 2nd behind Felix Kersten both on the 17m R1V2 on Skis. Felix was in top form and pulled through the next day with 5 bullets and only gave one away to Dom leaving him behind on the 2nd rank overall. Didier had to give way to the snowboarders on the special designed race boards at the end and ended up on a respectable 4th position over all still.
Howling winds up to 60 knots on the last two days made it impossible to race and the organizers pulled the pin and had to cancel both days. Still the riders had a great time and enjoyed the hospitality Niccolo and his organization team pulled off. We are very much looking forward for the next years event with more participants and more balanced wind conditions.
