The Kitesurfing Armada hosted Round 2 of the British Kitesurfing Championships. Held on Hayling Island on the South Coast we had promises of butter flat water and beautiful blue skies.
The Friday before the competition this is what we had so all competitors were raring to go early Saturday morning.
However we were greeted with overcast sky and almost no wind. This trend continued all of Saturday with heats being constantly black flagged until we were released late in the afternoon to enjoy the party the Armada had put on.
Sunday morning was an early start with 7:30am Riders Briefing for an 8am start. Juniors up first and our crew of 4 all rode incredibly well in the huge waves and building wind.
Junior Girl Jasmine Wallis managed a fantastic 3rd place, and Junior Boys Alex Wallis and Billy Evans both rode really well to achieve 4th and 7th place.
The wind increased to well over 30knots and the incredibly unusual surf picked up to head high rollers coming straight through the comp zone!
I headed out on my 8m C4V6 which behaved perfectly and allowed me to win all my heats putting me into the final!
I was stoked to have been able to land 2 passes in the final which by then was really tricky, and even more stoked to have been announced the winner of Round 2!
Only 1 more event to go and we are all training hard to try and bring home the best results we can.
