ANOC WORLD BEACH GAMES 2019 - KITEFOIL
Congratulations to team rider Nico Parlier for claiming silver at the 2019 World Beach Games in Doha, Qatar. This is a fantastic come back for Nico having been plagued with injuries throughout the year. Nico sailed into the final from the first round and put up a strong fight in a very tight final against Germany's Florian Gruber. The two were tied going into the last race, an unfortunate bout of bad luck saw Nico miss a mark and have to tack back, losing his advantage and allowing Flo to steal pole position.
Speaking to Ian MacKinnon of IKA, Nico commented:
“On a shorter course that is only six minutes long, it’s hard to come back if you make one mistake. But Florian did really good racing and had two good races so I’m pleased for him.
“I did what I could and I’m happy to finish second.”
Nico dedicated his silver medal to his close friend and gliding buddy who lost his life prior to the final race, hitting home the value of living for the moment.
