    2019 SPANISH FORMULA KITE CHAMPIONSHIPS

    This year the 2019 Spanish Formula Kite Championships were held once again in the prestigious Playa del Gurugú, Castelló from the 16th to 19th May. Breaking their record for registration with 36 participants.

    "People come to Castellón because it is a privileged place, we have the best conditions for kiting and good infrastructure" explains Tomás de Rosa, event organizer.

    The ease of access and the presence of the best national riders added to the attraction. The current champion of Spain, Alejandro Climent held on to his title, winning all 10 of the races. Not far behind and having put on a tremendous fight, Gunnar Biniasch defended his vice champion spot, still euphoric having recently won the Spanish Cup and claiming the Masters (35+) title. Local competitor Carlos Puig came in a respectable third place, knowing the spot like the back of his hand he made sure to keep the top riders on their toes.
     
    Congratulations to the full podium of Ozone riders and thanks to all the competitors who choose to fly the R1 V3. Now in its third version, the R1 has proven once again it is a force to be reckoned with. We have made its high-speed podium performance even easier to tap into, refining the design to take it to the next level. 

    A re-designed internal structure increases strength and support without additional weight. Re-calculated bridal line diameters reduce overall line drag by 14%. Giving the hard-core racer an overall increase in performance with the following enhancements:

    • Better angles up and downwind
    • Higher top end and lower bottom end range
    • Responsive handling
    • Increased stability in light wind conditions
    • Quicker inflation
