The scene is set and the lights are lit, Kitesurfing has been accepted into the 2024 Olympic games hall of fame... and the crowds go wild!!

Great news today as many across the globe woke to the announcement that our beloved sport has been recognised and accepted by the Olympic commitee and sailing federation. What does this mean we hear you roar, don't jump the gun and start perfecting those freestyle tricks as the games are focused more to speed racing diciplines. Most likely they will follow the Formula Kite model where you see hydrofoil racers battle it out at high speeds around set courses tweaking their foil kites to give them an extra edge.

The IKA (International Kiteboarding Association) have vowed to "work closely with World Sailing to ensure that the format reflects the wishes and dreams of the competitive kiteboarders all around the world to showcase hydrofoil kite racing at its best".

We look forward to seeing the plans unfold. Over the years we have strongly supported foil racing and have been proud sponsors of many of the top men and women. Our prestigeous Race Machine, the R1V2 is at the height of its game and in the hands of the pro riders it continues to win world titles and race trophies all over. The shear dominance of the kite shines through from the rider’s performance.

Racing is at the core of Ozone, for over 10 years we’ve been dedicated to advancing this sport. Our very own head designer Rob Whittall is a racing veteran, having had double success winning the World Championships in Paragliding and Hang-gliding. Not just in our design team, in 2016 Ozone co-founder Matt Taggart astonished us all by annihilating his opponents in the Hydrofoil Pro Tour to become World champion in the Masters division and Grandmaster champion aged 46, placing 13th overall. It is this valuable input and competitive drive, which helps us to make the best, most powerful racing machines.

Want to check out foil racing for yourself, well the next Formula Kite event is the European Championships in Warnemuende, Germany, from 8 to 13 July 2018, followed by the World Championships in Aarhus, Denmark, from 4 to 12 August 2018.
